What material are Leabon’s planer blades and cutter heads made of?

Our planer knives use W18 high-speed steel (HSS) or TCT (tungsten carbide tipped) for longer edge life; cutter heads and finger-joint cutters use alloy-steel bodies with carbide or HSS inserts. Choose TCT for abrasive or high-volume work, HSS for general softwood and hardwood.

How do I know which size planer blade or cutter fits my machine?

Match the blade length, width and thickness (L x W x T) and the bore / inner diameter to your jointer, thickness planer or spindle moulder. We list exact dimensions on every product and can custom-cut to your original part size — just send a photo or the old blade’s measurements.

When should I replace my planer knives or cutter heads?

Replace them when you see tear-out, burnt marks, uneven thickness, or a clear drop in feed speed. Dull HSS knives need honing or replacement sooner than TCT; keep spares on hand to avoid production downtime.
